About the Event
This course (BioDATA) aims at providing practical and theoretical introduction to the principles of DNA barcoding and metabarcoding, data collection and management through the open-access GBIF.org and Barcode of Life Database (BOLD) data platforms. The course will use a combination of lectures, tutorials, and hands-on exercises.
Topics:
- Importance of international biodiversity infrastructures, and how these can contribute to biodiversity assessments, monitoring, conservation, and red-listing.
- How to handle biodiversity data including DNA barcoding and practice capturing observation, collection, and genetic data from analogue and digital sources.
- Explore the benefits of FAIR and open data principles in biodiversity research and collaboration.
